MUSIC REFLECTION 

This is one of the most liked units, besides the movies. This unit was very related to music. I learned new genres of music, some more rare than others, some I liked. For example, we saw music by Billie Holiday, I saw her in my writing class and I listened to a song and she honestly bored me a lot. Her music is very calm. We also listened to Bob Dylan and I really liked the country song. But the song that I liked least was Kendrick Lamar's music I do not like, I know him and I do not like the music he does. We also read 3 readings, which is a lot for me, since I do not like to read. I do not get used to reading so much, but at the same time I like it because I learn something new or new words. My bumper sticker would be something like, "Without music there is no life" this means that we are always listening to music, it is part of our lives. For many, music has a great focus on their life, they feel identified or because they like it. My Aha moment was black Friday, I never imagined that was part of pop culture. I learned a lot thanks to the readings and the presentations we made, I suppose it's another way to pay more attention and learn things. I learned that the music of rappers is related to sex, violence, among other things, because rappers rap what happens to them in their lives, like Eminem. Eminem went through a lot until later he grew up in a black neighborhood and from there the famous Eminem was born.

Course reflection

In this course I saw many things, I even learned new words and how I can relate them to something that is popular or cultural. In the first unit we read several readings and learned a new vocabulary that we have been using in all units. In each unit there was a new vocabulary. This matter has been something really new for me. In Mexico we do not talk about culture, I believe that there is not even a matter related to culture. This is something really new for me because I learned the different cultures of my classmates. On top of that it was amazing to live with them. This subject is super incredible, but for the next semester I would like to study something different, music or art. I liked this course but the truth is not mine, so many exhibitions, my thing is not to talk or express myself with exhibitions, I can express myself better by playing music. Unit 3 and 4 were the ones I liked the most because in the 3 talking about movies and in the 4 we saw music. Music is one of my passions. I would like to learn more about music since that is the universal language, with music people express themselves better and are happier. This course also taught me that it is good to know where your classmates come from, because they have different cultures and tastes and you have to respect that.

Urban art is a diverse and constantly evolving expression. It seeks to surprise the viewer through messages that invite reflection, either through playfulness and irony, a political or social critique or a subversive invitation. The images that were carved in prehistoric caves today adorn the walls of the metropolis. Street art has emerged simultaneously in different parts of the world. The graffiti started showing up on the sides of train cars and walls.

My cool app is Pinterest. Pinterest is a app that is knowing all around the world and when you need some ideas you can go to Pinterest and saw what the people make. Many people use this app to give ideas to other people. For example, some of the work is from different country’s or different cultures and there you can find anything you need. The Pinterest I consider that is Pop culture because a lot of people use this app to shared their ideas and how they work. Also, you can learn somos thing different like style because there are so many pages that are related to style and you can dress different. Pinterest is a really cool app.

The Blues

The blues is a musical genre that began to be developed by African Americans. The Blues consists of keeping long notes. The Blues started in the United States, they started using instruments and voices to make blues notes and this consists of 12 bars. This genre became one of the most famous in the twentieth century, for the seventies this becomes one of the most important genres. Much of the music we listen to is part of this musical genre such as jazz, rock and roll, funk, heavy metal, hip-hop, country and pop music. This genre was developed through spiritual, prayer songs, work songs, English rhymes, Scottish and Irish ballads narrated and field shouts. The use of blues notes and the importance of call and response patterns, both in music and in lyrics, are indicative of the African-Western heritage of this genre.

Special event could be attent to the theatre to see some special actuation from a famous movie or attent to something that someone not know.

Also another thing is go to a friend house on Christmas and see how he/she celebrate that day. Obviously need to share the information and pictures.

The new visual project could be the Street Art. People made street art in all around the world. Maybe someone can took a picture from a really cool street art.

3 Popular pop culture websites

Those three websites are Pop culture because have a really big impact in the society. In all around the world those websites have a million of follower. Many people use those apps. In Tumblr someone can  find any person for any country, state, continent, etc. In Tumblr people shared their ideas and how they think and all that kind of things.  In YouTube someone can find any type of song that is not from your country or any kind of video. The Google app is one of the apps that most people use because you can find there anything you want, something that you need. I think those apps are Pop Culture because many people are used .

This is my genre The Rythm & Blues. I can give a little bit of what is this. The rythm and blues was a genre that create most of the other types of music that now are popular. The blues started to used different instrument and make the notes more long. There are one of the most popular person in that time, Elvis Presley. Something curios is Elvira started his sexual movement in his songs. He makes something with his hands in Jailhouse Rock, this movement make women crazy’s.

TEAM PROJECT

This is my team projec but I couldn’t put the link. I going to put just what I’m presented.
My team and I, we talk about the decade of the 90s. The 90s was a really popular era, it comes with really popular music, shows, objects, etc.
I chose a TV show and person that make change in the 90s.
The first show was Kenan & Kel, the show is from America the people that act there are black. The show represent the friendship of Kenan & Kel.
The other show was The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, the show is from America. In that show appear Africans American too. Will Smith is of the principal character. The show is that something happen to Will, his mother sent humo to LA to get a better life with his uncle. The both at the beginning had problems but they fix it.
My person that I chose was Nelson Mandela. Nelson Mandela dedicated 67 years of his life to the struggle for racial equality and the end of the segregationist regime of apartheid, imposed by the white minority. For this Nelson was arrested. Also, Mandela was the first president.

Reflection 3

     This unit has been one of the most interesting. I loved this unit very much, we talked about the movies and we made presentations. My favorite movies are those of action and suspense. We also learned that it makes us want to watch horror movies (just the people that like this type of movie). We read two readings, one of them was Stephen King, in that reading it was where he gave us the explanation of where the feelings came from watching horror movies. We also read Tyler Perry, in my opinion I liked that reading because it reflects that Hollywood has almost pure white actors and Tyler showed that it is also good to have African Americans. My Aha moment was when we read King's article and where our fears came from. I had an idea that people who like horror movies, it's because they have mental problems and the funny thing is that yes, although I do not consider that I have mental problems. My bumper could be "Create your own stories". Something I did not know was how to make a poster or maybe yes, but I had never made one like that now I will make more posters or maybe trailers. I learned the meaning of Genre. I hope that the next unit is the same as this interesting one, honestly it has been the unit that I liked the most, but the past units were also good.

The most interesting movie in all the times, how something it could change your life in one shoot. The Hate U Give is movie created for Angie Thomas. The characters are, Amandla Stenberg, Regina Hall, Russell Hornsby, KJ Apa, Anthony Mackie. The movie was made in United States. It was released in February 28, 2017. The film is about, how sometimes the police do not have the courage to accept what they do. How racism ends with the life of a person. And how a young woman can not tell the truth, for fear that they will do the same to her.

Many things happened in this film. First Starr Carter is a young woman who lives in a poor neighborhood, but the young girl went to a school of wealthy whites. 

The film focuses on the death of Starr's friend, Khalil. It all started at a party that there was, in which Starr and Khalil agreed. After a while shots were heard at the party and Khalil took Starr out of the party and took her home. Before Khalil took Starr home, they stopped for a moment. Khalil kissed Starr, but what Khalil did not know was that Starr already had a boyfriend. Then they went on their way when a policeman stopped them. Khalil got out of the car and the policeman told him not to move, Khalil ignored him and put his head inside the car to advise that Starr was fine. When Khalil was getting out of the car, I take a comb and it was there when everything changed. How the injustice of a policeman or the imprudence of not advising well, ended the life of that Khalil. The murder of Khalil was for not following orders and for playing. Starr needs to do justice for his friend. But I was so afraid that he had to wait. The time came when she was determined to speak. Starr started talking about what happened. The police asked him many questions about whether he knew if Khalil was selling drugs. She said yes, but the reason she did it was to get her grandma out, since she had cancer.

Basically, the police relied more on the young man than on the murderous policeman. The young woman made the mafioso in her neighborhood hate her, wanted to kill her. Starr is the victim of an injustice. Christian is Starr's girlfriend. Hailey is Starr's best friend, she was Starr's best friend. Khalil was killed by the police. 

For me that movie was super good, the fact of how the police committed such an unfair act and did not make them pay simply because it is their job and they make mistakes. The police always believe that they have authority over people. It shows a lot of racism, how people of color are judged or just because they are colored they are bad. One moment of the movie that I really liked was when Starr told the authorities that when she was a girl there was also another murder. They murdered her little friend and she never said anything for fear that the same thing would happen to her. From there Starr was afraid of the mafioso in his neighborhood. He was one of the most dangerous people. I recommend this movie because the truth was something very different from what I've seen. This movie I imagine was based on a lot of life in the United States and how the authorities are racist and that's why they kill. The movie has a very good message, I recommend that you see and learn about this movie.

My Fact

Hello guys, my fact is a Tamagotchi. The Tamagitchi was a very popular game in the 2000s. When I was a kid I got two of them but my animals sadly died because I forget fed them. You need to care of your animals because is a virtual game. It was made in Japón. It was really small, you can kept them in your pockets.

Cool Unit Reflection 

      In this unit I learned a lot of things. Honestly this unit it was more difficult because we had 2 presentation. I am really bad when I need to do presentations because I feel so nervous and my voice sound not good. I really enjoyed when we talk about "How to became a star" because I want to be one. Well sometimes because I saw how the famous people are stress and how people never give the space that the famous person need. So I see that is really difficult be a famous person. I'm still learning what is Pop Culture I think that this is the most important idea in this semester. I learned the four components of pop culture that are the following: Objects, people, places and events. I also like when we talk about our favorite star because I learned more about different stars. Therefore I learned some story about stars that I didn't know.

I liked the Ted talk of this women Shereen El Feki because she gave a really cool examples with the barbies ant that was really cool. That was my Aha because at the beginning of the video I just thought that she stared to talk about the different culture I know something about Islamic culture but I was didn't sure if I am right. Somethings I am right and the others I learned.

My Bumper it could be "If you want to be a successful person, culture you should learn".

I learned everything even how to work in group, well this is not true, I don't want to work in group well present presentations.

Well by the way I love this part I hope the next part will be interesting.

As the weeks passed, I began to learn more about the different aspects of cultures. First I learned what culture was. The culture comes from different parts, for example inculcations, symbiloc system, shared and adaptive. Each class I learned something different about the culture. I learned the Model of culture that is based on Technical, formal, informal. Each one taught you the rules that you need to follow but sometimes people broke that rules. I follow one this models that is Formal culture, I follow this because my mother told me the rules but she didn't told me reasons. Another thing that I learned is the 7 aspects of Culture. Some of this aspects I already knew it. One of the works that I didn't understand it was the culture shook until I started to searching for the meaning and their stages and it feels. When I think in Cukture shook I was thought that is something that it's really awesome something that you wanted to try. When I searching this I knew it that I was right. My Bumper Sticker it could be "Culture is part of life is part of us". One of the most difficult work for me it was the Poster. When I started to did this work I was like really confused because I didn't know if I need to talk about my culture or the culture that I created the culture that I am. I liked different things that Mexicans likes for example: The music, some food, religion. I don't like a lot the regional music, or I don't liked a lot the mole or pozole, that's typical food. Now I'm going to use the Culture Shook when I traveled because I want to feel how that culture is or felt. I didn't know that there is a lot of things that can define culture. Some of that things I searched for it but honestly I'm really bad with this things I hope that I learn more in this class.

Hey Guys This is my poster about my culture I hope you enjoy this. I'm going to talk about the Mexican Culture and the most important things that you are going to see if you travel to Mexico. I hope you like the traditional because that is what I am going to present. Sometimes learns new culture could be really cool. Here I present the religion, I'm a catholic person. The food that I liked and it's traditional, is tacos, flautas and pozole. The pozole is kind of spicy and the tacos are really good. The music is Mariachi and if you go to places that are referred to Mexico you can find this music. You can learn different types of art. And the more traditional things as Mexicans like to do in their free time.
